NBT EVO FSC code — map activation for EVO head units

NBT EVO is the iDrive generation fitted to most BMWs and MINIs built roughly between 2015 and 2020: F30/G30 3- and 5-series, G01 X3, G05 X5, G11/G12 7-series, F48 X1, and MINI F54–F60 of the same years. It runs the EVO map series — the largest single group of FSC buyers today, because these cars are now hitting second and third owners who want current maps.

You can recognize EVO by its tile-based iDrive menu (ID5/ID6) or the older list-style EVO menu (ID4). Our VIN decoder confirms the exact unit in seconds.

• • EVO ID4 (2015–2017): accepts a classic 20-character code. Free generator codes can work here, with the usual risks.
• • EVO ID5 / ID6 (2016–2020): verify FSC signatures. Only genuine BMW-issued FSC files are accepted — no free generator can produce one. This is where most "code not accepted" stories come from.

If you are unsure whether your EVO is ID4 or ID5/ID6, decode your VIN before buying anything — the wrong product simply won't activate.

1. Download the current EVO map release for your region onto a 32 GB+ USB stick (FAT32 or exFAT).
2. Plug it into the car's USB port with ignition on and start the update from the iDrive prompt.
3. When the unit asks for activation, enter your VIN-matched FSC code — on ID5/ID6, import the FSC file instead.
